‘MILA KE DE’ – BY NAUMAN SHAFI
In the global arena, we have seen musicians transpiring into earnest activists, be it through their music or their sheer presence in the social diaspora/movement. It’s well known that they can influence and help spread grass root issues on respective platforms that they share with their adoring masses. Keeping this momentum and sensitivity thriving, ace musician Nauman Shafi has crusaded yet again with his passion for music and merged it with a socially relevant issue. His latest music video, ‘Mila Ke De’ is an inspirational musical narrative of an eight-year-old less privileged child who has aspirations of making a mark of himself in the world of cricket. The main protagonist, Shahzain Khan Niazi was handpicked from ‘Lyari’ (a below poverty habitant in the city of Karachi), and his talent was recognized with aplomb. It seems like a well-thought composition where the melody and the lyrics sketch the aspirations of a tiny tot who wants to make his talent known beyond his segmented horizons. When you hear the song, one can organically feel that Nauman and the team gave Shahzain the wings to fly and the confidence to dream unapologetically. It’s an absolute merge of a compassionate musician and his muse. Nauman’s ability to thread his music with an approachability to the underprivileged strata, empowering cultural and personal development of these children who are the future torchbearers, can bring a positive and impactful change in society. With a strong belief in “All that is not given is lost,” he intends to propagate that we have a responsibility towards the larger society and sustainable development of the less privileged. Nauman Shafi’s – ‘Mila Ke De’ symbolizes an honest initiative, inspiring the affluent to contribute as a unit and just not on an individual basis.
